Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health

Little ones have mental health too!

Why might babies and toddlers need therapy?

Caregivers come in with concerns about these little ones when:

  • The caregiver is struggling with their own health

  • Bonding isn’t going as expected

  • The family has experienced a trauma

  • The child isn't meeting milestones

  • Caregivers want to "re-parent" themselves so they can best parent their child

What does therapy with little ones look like?

The mental health of infants and toddlers is tied inexorably to their caregivers, as the child's world revolves around this precious connection. This is attachment work.

I support the mental health of children birth - 5 by strengthening the adult-child relationship. As part of my assessment, I include one virtual (throughout Washington state) or in-person (in the Seattle are) home visit, where I observe the child and caregivers interacting. I then work virtually with the caregivers, supporting them support their child.

I utilize Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Promoting First Relationships, and Circle of Security in this work.
