Smith

We evolved for community, relationship, and to be met with welcoming arms. But the village has largely disappeared. We can't go back, but we can build something new.

I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor working with parents and adults who feel overwhelmed, isolated, or shaped by growing up in emotionally neglectful or harmful environments. I work with folks who want to break the cycle, but have learned it’s easier said than done.

I help people heal at the root—not just manage symptoms, but transform what’s underneath them.

I help people live their values and bring their gifts to the world. Not by giving you more advice, but by building understanding, repair, and self-compassion. I'm here for the joy of neurodiverse, queer, gender queer, blended, single parent, and non-traditional families of all kinds – helping folks move through burdens and into celebration.

I specialize in healing intergenerational attachment trauma and bring nearly 20 years of experience supporting families. And, I’m a parent who’s had my share of hard times. I’ve been lucky enough to find support through those times, and it’s my belief that everyone should be so lucky.

For the parents ....

Sound familiar? If you know how you DON'T want to parent, but not how you DO want to parent, or if traditional parenting advice doesn't fit your neurodiverse, queer, poly, or out-of-the-box family, and you want to work with someone who gets it, reach out.

More about me

My approach

Therapy with me is about real life, real families, and feeling centered without needing a script. I use humor, compassion, and evidence-based interventions. I help my clients see all their parts with compassion, and I work with the nervous system so we can do brave work.

My education

I hold a masters degree in Psychology from Seattle University and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Washington.

I've supported children and families for nearly 20 years. In addition to my work with adults, I've worked in early childhood education, the school system, community mental health, and have specialized training in Infant and Early Childhood mental health.

My modalities

I am trained in Parts Work (Internal Family Systems), Mindful Self-Compassion, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Circle of Security, Neurodiversity, Perinatal Mental Health, the Dynamic Maturation Module of Attachment, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and other modalities for treating childhood and adult trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Identity and fun facts

I'm a white, queer, non-binary, non-monogamous, radical single parent (to a child and a dog). I love to dance, read, run very slowly, and my car is messier than yours.
