Fees and Insurance

The kind of support therapist and consultants provide used to be given and received communally. The uncomfortable fact is that this support is now mediated by money. I believe conversations about money are important. These are the fees I charge to cover my family's expenses. They cover my insurance, sick time, vacation time, childcare, business expenses and basic living expenses. If payment is a barrier, I offer a moderate sliding scale.

Psychotherapy
  • $185 per 50 minute session.

    • If the full fee would present a hardship and the you are not able to submit superbills to your insurance company for OON reimbursement, I offer a lower rate of $170. Please reach out if this option would be helpful.

  • I am not currently in network with any insurance but offer superbills for partial insurance reimbursement. See below for how superbills may work for you.

Consultation
  • My consultation services are available at $200 an hour. Please reach out to discuss a plan that works for your organization.

A good faith estimate is available upon scheduling or request.

Info about obtaining Out-of-Network reimbursement:

In some cases, you may be able to work directly with your insurance company to get partial reimbursement through your out-of-network (OON) benefits. In general, most PPO plans (not HMO) have OON benefits. However, you must confirm this with your insurance company.  If you will be doing this, I will provide you with Superbills to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Note: insurance companies usually do not reimburse for the full fee, so you will still be paying some money out of pocket.

. Here are some helpful questions you can ask your insurance company:

  • Are mental/behavioral health services covered by my out-of-network benefits? (You can provide the Current Procedural Terminology/CPT codes 90837 for individual therapy session and 90791 for initial evaluation).

  • Will service be covered with Brecca Smith, LMHC, NPI# 1962018796

  • How much of the fee is reimbursed for out-of-network providers?

  • What is my deductible?

  • Have I met my deductible?

  • How long do I have to submit my Superbill for reimbursement?

  • How long will it take to be reimbursed for sessions after I have submitted my claims?
